Y’all, I am so excited about summer. It’s my favorite season for so many reasons (we’ll get there, promise) but it made me realize that I haven’t been around much – so hi and welcome back. I’ve missed y’all.
First – if you’re new here, I’m Dr. Jamie. Welcome to my place! At this point, you’ve figured out that I’m a chiropractor who specializes in family care – from preconception onward! My office walls are covered in baby pictures and artwork from amazing kiddos and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m a wife and mama of 2 myself, and love working with families to keep them healthy and moving and grooving. Connection is one of my core values. Can running be a core value? Because that might be another if I can count that. In our wedding vows, my husband actually promised to take me in all the flip flops and running shoes – and I sure do love that man for that! He’s the best, actually. Our family motto is Delightful Chaos, and, I can’t lie, it’s totally my life! And my awesome husband balances it all out – because our kids totally fall more to the chaotic side of things. So, now we’re caught up and friends – excellent.
What is your favorite season? What’s the best part of that for you?
I answered already but then didn’t give you an actual explanation as to why summer is my favorite. I think it’s mostly the chill vibes of summer – everything just moves slower, is more relaxed, and geared to more FUN. I love the distinct lack of schedule (even though my husband and I both work and have VERY SET SCHEDULES), and the spontaneity of “sure, let’s build a fire and make s’mores in 5 minutes with 25 friends at 8:30 on a weeknight!” Wait. That doesn’t happen in your house?! Come to mine and enjoy! (Fun fact – we *almost* always have homemade marshmallows in our freezer for the very best s’mores) I love that we can (most days) drop everything and pivot to something even more fun. I love our family movie nights and hang out time. Don’t get me wrong, please – we still have a TON of stuff to do and activities and responsibilities, but everything just generally feels slower and more relaxed and I just love that.
I honestly just think it’s a whole vibe, really. We still keep our house rules and routines and the daily lists going – but the mood just feels different and a little slower. And I know by the time our last hurrah rolls around (beach trip!) the week before school starts, we’ll be recharged and ready for the hustle of the school year, but I just love soaking this fun time in… and we’ll all also be ready for the new season. Tristan is starting kindergarten and he’s nearly counting down the days already to “big kid school” which makes my heart so happy! For now, though, when I’m not here in the office with you gorgeous humans, you can find us at the pool or adventuring to fun place somewhere around town! If you have great adventure spots, send them my way, please!
xoxox,
Dr. Jamie
