As the flu works its way through my house, I switch from doctor mode to mama mode and back. Thankfully, it hasn’t hit me yet (knocking on wood and any other good luck things you tell me to do!), but I’m in watchful mode. Can I just tell you – having a sick kiddo stinks. Like, really.

So. It’s flu season. What can you do to prevent it? Wash your hands. Yes, really. Don’t pick up used tissues. Take your vitamins and omegas. Sneeze and cough into your own sleeve. Get plenty of rest. Eat your veggies. You know, all the stuff your awesome mom used to tell you. Go call her and say thanks – I’ll wait. So, prevention is the key, but sometimes we’re already operating under stress and compromised, and that little virus works its way in and, uh-oh, we get the flu. Crap.

Ok, you’ve got the flu. REST. Drink plenty of fluids. Seriously. Watch your temp. Go to your primary care physician if it’s time to do so – seriously. Rest is key for me though… I see people all the time (and now, especially!) who just try to push through. Now, you know me, and you know I’m not about fear-mongering, but the flu is no joke. Take it seriously and rest. Don’t go to the gym for “just a little moving” or “just one lift.” Go home. Lay on your couch and watch bad movies. Please. Drink water. Drink kombucha. Drink coconut water.

Stay well, my people!
